  • Since I have been getting my senses, emotions and creativity back slowly... I have a track for Æthyrien X that I plan on releasing at some point and was working on the album cover for it. The song is Gefinn Óðni (Odin's Sacrifice) is about the sacrifice Odin made hanging himself while pierced by his own spear, Gungnir. Not only that, but I took creative liberty to tell this story from the perspective of Huginn (and sung by a woman nonetheless). I have read the ancient texts and have always heard references to these 9 nights of sacrificing himself to himself in the pursuit of understanding the runes, but never told from the perspective of someone else other than Odin.

With this artwork though I am only halfway done and still need to add his spear (I already got his hand ready to be holding the spear), add Huginn from the tree's branches above him and then proceed to add final touches of lighting and atmosphere to bring it all together. This will then be turned into a lyrical video like all of Æthyrien X's songs are released and will involve me subtly animating this scene.

Thoughts? It's a bit dark now but I haven't adding all the lighting and color grading it will receive after all the elements have been added and blended together. <3

  • Runes are conduits of ancient power, carrying the wisdom of gods and worlds. They are more than symbols—they are a gateway to the unknown.

  • Question. Do others here experience benefit from planetary hours and working with your gods?
    Do you know of this?
Of course, I mean hour of Jupiter for Thor, hour of Venus for Frigg, hour of Mercury for Odin, Sun to honor Baldr (or Sunna), Mars for Týr, in this case.
Or even, the associated runes being a focus during those power zones?
By the way, apparently Njord would be syncretic to the Saturn hour, most likely?
For multiple reasons, I would rather say Skadi. I won't go into those reasons here.

I think this could be good as more than a singular post.

  • The runes will help you understand the place within yourself, the ancient place, that is designated for connection with your god—the force that once separated a part of itself to give rise to your consciousness.

  • Discussion Post:

Do you think only following Norse spirituality from a reconstructionist stand point goes against the organic sate of being that Norse Spirituality is?

I am personally a fan of Reconstructionism. But only to a point. I believe learning tradition and history is important before delving into modern things that have grown and become established. I'm not against modern practices in the spirituality, as from what we have reconstructed, we can see the natural flow of the spirituality, how it has evolved and grown from indo Europeans to today. I think retaining knowledge of tradition, teaching it and passing it down as we continue to grow and adapt modern practices like, bindrunes and runic divination. We should revere, honor and continue the ways of old, while also organically growing this spirituality.

  • Denmark gave Rouen a replica of the Jelling Runestone in 1911 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Duchy of Normandy. ⚔ The last sentence on the plaque says Rouen was called the town of the Danes.
The second picture was taken when I stood in front of the actual runestone in Jelling in 2018 :)

  • This is one of the best videos I've seen about runes, not so much for the information, but for the proposal.
