• Giant Redwood (Sequoia) Bonsai forest I started last year from seed. Just did a bit of trimming this morning. Talk about a few decades-long project. They are so adorable tho.

  • How to Properly Bring Offerings to Spirits

When offering to spirits, whether it's the Domovoy (house spirit), Brownie, dark spirits, in-between forces, or the spirits of the dead, there are specific offerings to consider. For dark forces and spirits of the dead, strong alcohol, raw meat, and bl**dy offerings are often appropriate. For field and forest spirits, offerings such as bread, wine, and sweets are suitable.
You can learn this by developing an intuitive sense of what is needed at the moment. This skill comes with experience and often manifests through specific internal sensations, which are perceived through your most developed senses. These could include hearing, sight, touch, or smell—everyone has their own dominant and less dominant abilities.
In our runic practices, many colleagues share that they can clearly sense the taste of the offering in their mouth before giving it to a spirit or god. This intuitive skill develops over time.

  • We've had a funny walk in a forest yesterday. Adventure would be more convenient. Eerie. Those rocks look like a dragon cemetery. I had to share.

  • I found this on the ground this morning. I don't live in the mountains, not even nearly close to any forest, all around here is crop fields and houses, so this was an event for me, even if it's a bit broken. It's from a roe deer.

Anyone has any tips on what to do with it, being fixing it somehow or using it as any kind of charm or anything?

  • This is one of my favorite pieces hung in my living room. Lance does amazing work.

"Forest Traders" written by Lance Smith (Cherokee)

This is a painting about the Little People. Anidawi (Cherokee), čanotila (Lakota) for Little People, and on the right, of course, are the Gnomes (European Little People). Gunther, (in the purple jacket) the leader of the Gnomes, has led his group to the annual meeting spot. He proudly shows the beaded bag he bartered for last year. He proudly uses it everyday. Little Bird, who is the leader of the Little People, greets him with a smile, as he does every year.

The Gnomes have come from the underground, their home. They brought with them gems, stones, crystals, roots and herbs for trading which they have dug and harvested. They also brought their own craft items which they are eager to trade. Little Bird and his group have made their way from their forest home through a tunnel under the brush and thicket.

They, too, are eager to trade their goods, medicine, berries, dried fruit, arrowheads and other tools they have made. The annual rendezvous of the humans is also underway, seen in the background where they are setting up their camp. Tribes would come from many miles and bring their goods for trading, as well as mountain men. The Little People have also taken this opportunity to meet, exchange stories and enjoy each other's diversity and company.

  • "Quintilius Varus, give me back my legions!"
This desperate cry, attributed to Emperor Augustus, was born from the devastating Roman defeat in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, 9 CE — a turning point not only for Rome, but for the future of Europe.

Three Roman legions — XVII, XVIII, and XIX — were completely destroyed by an alliance of Germanic tribes led by Arminius, a Cherusci noble raised and trained by the Romans themselves. The ambush, set deep in the forests under heavy rain and fog, shattered Rome’s illusion of conquering Germania.

For the Germanic peoples, this victory was monumental. It halted Roman expansion beyond the Rhine and preserved their autonomy, language, and cultural identity. Had Rome succeeded, large parts of what is now Germany might have been Latinized — with different languages, laws, and gods.

This meme playfully imagines Augustus on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, but behind the humor lies a real trauma for the Roman Empire — and a legacy of resistance and survival for the Germanic world.
