  • Tonight the fires burn bright,
    Amidst the deepening gloom,
    Springtide brings growing light,
    Away from winter's doom.

May you find things to grow,
    Amidst these warming days,
May you find those to know,
    And wander all the ways.

  • Hail Thor (Old Norse: Þórr) this Þórsdagr (Thorsday/Thursday) the Norse god of thunder, the sky & agriculture. He is the son of Odin, chief of the gods.
Thor is the defender of Asgard, realm of the gods, and Midgard, the human realm, and is primarily associated with protection through great feats of arms in slaying giants. The majority of the tales featuring Thor, in fact, put him in conflict with a giant or with his nemesis the Midgard Serpent, Jörmungandr, a monstrous snake who coils and twists itself around the world.
Like almost all of the Norse gods, Thor is doomed to die at Ragnarök, the end of the world and twilight of the gods, but falls only after killing the great serpent with his powerful hammer Mjölnir, dying to its poison; his sons Magni and Modi survive Ragnarök along with a small number of other gods and inherit his hammer which they use to restore order.
    "I am the Thunderer!
    Here in my Northland,
    My fastness and fortress,
    Reign I forever!
    Here amid icebergs
    Rule I the nations;
    This is my hammer,
    Mjölnir the mighty;
    Giants and sorcerers
    Cannot withstand it!"
    - Saga of King Olaf, Longfellow

  • I'm not sure how many here have seen the movie "The Ring of the Nibelungs" (2004), which is based on the Norse Völsunga Saga and the Germanic epic poem Nibelungenlied (The Song of the Nibelungs).

It's probably my favorite "Viking" movie, ("Viking" because of the story, the story was based in modern-day Germany and Iceland).

On this image: Siegfried/Sigurd, the dragon Fafnir, the Ring, Andvaranaut (see it?), the treasure, the Helm of Terror, and the falling Linden leaves.... It could be said that the curse creeps in from all around the image.

    Small spoilers ahead:

When Siegfried/Sigurd killed the dragon Fafnir, he was warned not to take the ring and the treasure it governed, he was told that it was cursed, and it would be his doom. He didn't listen, but what I love is that.. there was no magic involved, none, the curse was on the minds of people, only human greed was indeed what brought death and heartbreak to almost everyone around him, himself included.

  • RAGNAROK (Label Artwork)

    SCENT
Masculine Teakwood, Resinous Amber, subtle smokiness from Black Peppercorn

    INSPIRATION
Ragnarök — the cataclysmic battle marking the end of gods and the dawn of a new world rising from the ashes. This rich, masculine blend captures the saga’s intensity with warm teakwood, resinous amber, and a hint of smokey pepper. Smooth yet bold, Ragnarok embodies the strength of a warrior king, the fire of destruction, and the honor of rebirth. A scent as powerful and timeless as the legends themselves.

    BEHIND THE SCENES
I had originally planned on this design to be this massive battle scene with Sutr in the background and armies charging in, death and destruction all over the place. I had created this epic scene, sized it for the label and realized there is SO much going on this massive battlefield it just looked like noise on a label. So while I still have that artwork and may release it as a print, I had to step back a bit with a more simplistic, yet still symbolic composition to represent Ragnarok.

The broken sword icon for Ragnarok was heavily inspired by Riven from League of Legends :)

The Bindrune consists of four elder futhark runes:
ᚾ (Nauthiz, Reversed): Represents inevitable fate and hardship, symbolizing the inescapable suffering and doom that comes with Ragnarok. Positioned at the top to set the tone of unavoidable destruction.
ᚦ (Thurisaz): The core of chaos and destruction, embodying the overwhelming force of Ragnarok. It takes center stage as the heart of the bindrune, funneling all energy into its violent power.
ᛏ (Tiwaz, Inverted, x2): Represents sacrifice and loss, showing the ultimate fate of gods and warriors who fall in Ragnarok. The repeated inverted Tiwaz signals multiple sacrifices, reinforcing the finality and totality of this event.

I tried to make this bindrune flow like the story of Ragnarok itself: starting with the inevitability of fate at the top, descending into chaos and destruction at the center, and culminating in the sacrifices of gods and warriors below. The layered design captures the doom, power, and finality of the end of all things.

  • [Work in Progress] Draugr, artwork being produced for Valkyrie Beard Care.

PERSPECTIVE: I tried to make this dude look eerie but really capture a sense of doom or dread surrounding him. The paint coming off of him is also supposed to symbolize the stench and disease they emit from great distances away.

SCENT: Petrichor (Rain), Wet Moss, Seaweed, Decayed Leather, Rusted Chainmail, Dead Leaves, Ancient Oud, Dark Musk

    TYPE: Masculine, Earthy, Macabre

INSPIRATION: Deep within Norse lore, Draugrs are feared as undead beings, often described as the reanimated corpses of warriors. They guard their treasures fiercely and are known for their strength, stench of decay, and the dark aura that surrounds them. This scent captures the essence of these ancient guardians. You read that right. I was deeply inspired by the undead for this unique scent, aiming to evoke the essence of undead ancestral warriors without making you smell like actual death.

FUN FACT: It took me at least a half hour to get his eyes right because I kept accidentally giving him googly eyes. LOL
