  • When do you consider an Oath Broken?
Do you believe someone loses all their Honor when breaking an Oath?
How Sacred do you hold Oaths?

For me and how my tribe operates, this all depends on the Oath being said. Though there is no exceptions on the sacredness of an Oath. However, depending on the Oath, we recognize and understand how we are as humans. Sometimes Oaths can be hard to keep perfectly. At times you will fail, and we believe, so long as you continue to try, and recognize your faults and make well on your Oath than the Oath is not broken. Though this doesn't pertain to every Oath. This would be Oaths like let's say, an Oath to your people to quit smoking cigarettes, for your health and your kindred around you. This is not an easy feat, and many struggle in quitting, and someone who would take Oath on this, would unfortunately likely struggle and have slip ups and smoke cigarettes. And these kinds of Oaths, unless outright given up on we don't consider broken. Other Oaths though, like swearing loyalty to someone, and then going and backstabbing them is something we see as an immediately broken Oath.
Of course, depending on the Oath as well for us determines of someone loses their Honor. Or maybe just some, and their word cannot always be trusted.
We are human, we make mistakes, and to some extent we believe it should be forgiven a bit, as not one of us is capable of being 'perfect'.
But none the less each Oath is sacred. And should be upheld to the best of your abilities.

  • Sometimes in my honoring of Óðinn, I like to get a bit wild, half naked wearing furs ja, ja its typical 'brosatru' thing to toss on excessive Furs and act all viking like blah blah.
However, we do this occasionally, some of the men in our tribe, especially those very connected to Óðinn, honor the 'god of frenzy' embracing what little we know of the practices of the Óðinnic wolf cult, and it's origins in the Germanic männerbunde. Painting the Ansuz rune on our torsos, to amplify the energy of our shouts, and galðr chanting as we dance around the fire to the beat of the drum as we honor and invite Óðinn to us. The video here is the beginning as I call out to Óðinn and begin to beat the drum

  • Right after we had Blót, I was blessed with this little one. Living in the shopping cart return at the grocery store, she's about 6-7 months old. My other cat Ulf has needed a friend and now we have Svartr here

  • Preparing our space for Blót this weekend.
Due to time off, and availability of our members our Vetrnætr Blót is being done this weekend, since we didn't get to 17th-19th.

  • A small ritual on one of our outside altars (I love bones and Dansk Mjød if you can't tell), officiating an oath ring for members to swear over in the sacred space. The knife was placed to represent us cutting and spilling blood, into a bowl that was filled with a strawberry mead, that the oath ring was dipped into and then laid upon the small rock cairn.

  • Small Viking Fest in a neighboring town today.
I know the fur isn't historical, but it is kinda cool and goes good with the helmet
