My view on historical reenactment For me historical re enactment goes deeper than experimental archaeology or just simply re enactment it is a respect for our ancestors hardship and a show of a love and thanks for their strength to wear the clothes that they wore use the weapons they used and sleep in the dwellings / tents they used cook the food that they ate and in the ways that they cooked it and play the games that they played it shows a deep deep gratitude for them and all they have given to their descendants it was their defiance that helped asatru or the old ways survive it was their pro creation that allowed me to exist and what better way to show appreciation and thanks to them for doing so outside of ritual than to live a good life be kind and go through their hardship from camping in the winter and living in the wood for a few days with no electronics just tools provisions and a tent and the know how we are the result of a thousand loves thank your ancestors

The past of my country is nearly closed. We have extreme lack of information. Currently there is a huge stream of history reconstruction. And we are like children with lost parts of puzzle, who even don"t have enough money for pencils to fix hypotheses. First presents artifacts of Scythians - their dishes, weapons, jewellery and second - artifacts concerning to the first huge christian church in Kyiv - Desyatynna(Tithe). As it was told in our "Povist vremenyh lit"(The Tale of Time) written by monks, this church was built on the place of some Warrior-Northman, who became a christian and who refused to sacrifice his son for the Ukrainian pagan god of thunder Perun. He was killed by anry pagans and then.. christians admitted him as saint and chose the place of his house for the church.. Several Princes including Volodymyr Velykyj were buried there according to the Tale. But there are no archeological proofs. In the end of 20th century there was found one origin wood sarcophagus with skeleton and weapon.. Very massive teeth.. Hope it could be studied thoroughly and may be reconstructed with scanning

Someone please explain THIS to me. I looked up "Can I wear a sword in public?" "While open gun carry may be legal in some places, openly carrying a sword is generally not allowed because swords are perceived as more inherently threatening and likely to cause alarm in the public compared to a firearm, even when openly displayed; this is due to their historical association with violence and the difficulty in controlling a sword compared to a gun in a public setting". So walking down the street wearing a high capacity large caliber pistol is inherently safer than wearing an ULFBERHT? So a gun has less "historical association" with violence? WTF? The Focking NRA is indeed the most powerful group in the country. OK. So after a little more research I've discovered that here in Georgia...You can walk down a public street openly carrying the same weapon as a Russian soldier in combat in Ukraine while in California (The most liberal state in the country) you can walk around wearing a sword. Lucy...You got some splainin to do!
