• I am a bit busy this morning watching important government hearings. Seeing if trump and his criminal allies will rule without oversight. I bet putin is also watching.

  • Hail the old gods, the ones whose names are so old the tongues that spoke them have now crumbled to dust and been forgotten. They are still here. They will always be. I feel their breath in the wind that caresses my cheek and scatters strands of hair across my face. I feel them in the icy bite of crystalline water that brings me back to my core and clears my mind as I plunge into the river, I feel them in the rush of my blood as I ascend the mountain, I feel them in the ache of my heart for the wild places and primal pure energy of nature. Away from the madness of the modern world, away from the hypocrisy, the pale imitations of natures grandeur, the artificial constructs of glass, plastic and metal. I care not for the modern world of man. Hail the old gods! -SꚚLFYR

  • 'Tis the season when a lot of people end up getting ill—often thanks to sick relatives who show up at family gatherings to cough on everyone. ;)
A tincture made with bee balm (Monarda didyma and/or Monarda fistulosa) and old man's beard lichen (Usnea barbata) can work wonders for speeding up the healing process.

Monarda contains the antimicrobial compounds thymol and carvacrol, and can be used treat or prevent infections — both internally and externally. Usnea is a fruticose lichen species that contains usnic and barbatic acid, which have been proven to inhibit bacterial, fungal, and viral growth, including candida, E-coli, and staph infections.

If you make a tincture of equal parts of these herbs, you end up with a powerful infection-fighting medicine that's invaluable to keep in your home apothecary cabinet.

To make a standard tincture, aim for:
1 ounce of herb to 5 ounces (liquid volume) of solvent if you're using dry herbs, and
1 ounce of herb to 2 ounces (liquid volume) of solvent if you're using fresh ones.

The solvent (aka "menstruum") should be 40% alcohol content (80 proof) to extract the plant's healing properties and ensure that no bacteria or mildew can grow in there. Vodka is ideal for this, but I also use brandy.

One can never have too much medicine available in case of emergencies. Our ancestors used plant medicines exclusively for thousands of years, and they're remarkably effective if used correctly.
    Be well!

  • VALHALLA (Label Artwork)

    SCENT
    Oak-Barreled bourbon, Warm Sandalwood,
Fresh Tobacco, Spiced Mead, Vanilla Sticks

    INSPIRATION
Valhalla — the golden hall where the bravest warriors gather for an afterlife of endless feasting, fighting, and camaraderie. This blend captures the essence of that legendary realm with the warmth of oak-barreled bourbon, sandalwood, and fresh tobacco, embodying the strength and richness of the gods' own sanctuary. Notes of spiced mead and a touch of vanilla add a smooth, inviting sweetness, reminiscent of the lavish feasts and toasts to fallen heroes. Valhalla is a tribute to this timeless hall of legends, a bold and enduring scent that brings a taste of the warrior’s paradise to life.

    BEHIND THE SCENES
The 5th scent I have released.

There are 12 different layers of clouds blended in this, as well as 15 different layers of just lighting alone.

Valhalla and Asgard actually share the same constructed bindrune, but both differing on their meanings.

Knowing this was going to be an epic scene, I rendered over 1400 images dedicated on bringing what I had in my head into reality.

The Bindrune consists of three elder futhark runes:
ᛏ (Tiwaz): Represents sacrifice and honor in battle, fitting the warriors who fight for glory in Valhalla. Positioned as the backbone of the design, forming the spear-like structure.
ᛉ (Algiz): Symbolizes divine protection and favor, highlighting the warriors’ connection to the gods and their readiness for the eternal fight. Integrated seamlessly into the spear’s shape.
ᚨ (Ansuz): Reflects Odin’s wisdom and divine guidance, appearing subtly as the fletching on the shaft of the spear, suggesting the divine call to Valhalla and the flight to glory.

I constructed the bindrune to form a crude spear pointing upright, symbolizing the warrior's honor and readiness for the final battle. Tiwaz and Algiz merge to create a strong, protective backbone, while Ansuz, as fletching, adds Odin’s voice and guidance. I hope this captures the spirit of Valhalla—sacrifice, protection, and divine purpose.

  • The rune Uruz and its connection to the feminine nature.
    Student:
Here's the situation: over the past week, I've experienced the benefits of others' efforts—people have been doing things for me, offering discounts, and giving me gifts. This effect has been particularly strong during my study of the rune Uruz.

    K. Menshikova:
Uruz represents the power granted by the Mother, and this power often manifests in ways that align with the feminine consciousness. Uruz fills the empty spaces in the mind that lack power, and it brings a message: "Things are not as they should be. A woman should not have emptiness; she should be whole and complete." This kind of awareness is common among women. As the force of the Mother, the rune Uruz simply supports women through the principle of identity.

  • Viking Rituals: Honoring the Old Gods
Viking rituals were central to Norse culture, serving as a bridge between the mortal realm and the divine. These rituals, often held outdoors amidst nature, were deeply spiritual, symbolizing honor, protection, and prosperity. Here are some authentic practices that defined Viking ceremonies:

    1. Blót (Sacrifice)

Purpose: The most sacred Viking ritual, blót involved offerings to Norse gods, ancestors, or spirits of the land (vættir). These offerings could be animals, food, or precious objects.
Setting: Performed around large bonfires, blót ceremonies were often held in groves, sacred hills, or near large stones that served as altars.
Process: A chieftain or priest (gothi) led the ritual, chanting prayers, making the sacrifice, and sharing the offering with the community.

    2. Dísablót (Female Spirits' Offering)

Purpose: This special ritual was dedicated to female deities and ancestral spirits (dísir). It was believed to secure good fortune for the coming year, especially for farming and family well-being.
Setting: Often held during winter or near the beginning of spring, it was celebrated with large communal feasts and toasts in honor of the dísir.

    3. Landvættir Worship (Land Spirits)

Purpose: Vikings believed the land was inhabited by spirits that could either protect or harm the people living on it. Rituals to appease these spirits were common, particularly during settlements, battles, or sea voyages.
Process: Offerings of mead, food, or crafted objects were placed at shrines or special trees believed to be home to the landvættir.

    4. Seiðr Rituals (Norse Magic)

Purpose: Seiðr was a form of Norse magic used for prophecy, healing, and controlling elements. It was practiced by seeresses (völvas) who could channel divine power.
Process: Participants sat in a circle, chanting while the völva entered a trance. Her visions were interpreted as guidance for the community.
