• Today I've encountered a friend who lives in another city, and in Brazil it means, most of the times, some countries away, from an European citizen's point of view.

It was a surprise, orchestrated only by th the Gods, and my heart was filled with joy andgratitude. I had just looked at her picture thinking "I won't be able to meet her, this time".

The Gods gave me this unexpected blessing, but They also made me think about this:

Most of you are too young or too close to your beloveds, but what kind of effort are you doing to maintain contact, and I mean real relationships without losing yourselves in the process of pushing people away for not corresponding to what you think they should be or do?

No one is an island, and the Gods reminded me we should think about that more often. In the long road of life, these connections are too important to simply let go with the smoke of our egos and routines.

Time to see if the redt of the gang is ok. I hope each of you is ok, too.

  • Gullveig Chant.

    Witch Goddess Gullveig
    Master of the Northern Witches
Expert in the art of Seidh
    Lady of the transformations

    You caused a great war
    You, trice burnt
    Seer, Vitki woman
    Trice re-born

    You are the radiant gold
Some call you the caldron Witch
    You bring the singed broom
    Great Vanir Witch

    The Lynx follows you
    The white crow guides you
    The owl gives you advice
    The spider protects you

The echo from the witches in the mist
    Calls you the first witch
You are the first, not the last
You inhabit in each of them

There are no secrets for you
    Master of the fire
    You are both,
    The creator and the destroyer

    From the powerful gold magic
    Moon Blood ablaze
    By the primordial fire
    The heart is consumed

    Invocations are cast
In the dark of the moon you arrive
    Amidst the hidden balefire
    Your witches praise you

    At the Walpurgis feast
    They dance in your honour.
As it was in the past,
    As it is today

    Illuminate and cause madness
    Protect, teach and nourish us
    Witch of the perennial fables
Hidden within the mist and masks

    Impostors Pseudo Witches
In the wolf era called you
The one of the thousand names
    But you never answered them

    You, radiant Gullveig
    An alliance is established
    Powerful energy is emanated
    Conjures will fall beside you

One who doesn’t know your ways will loose oneself
    Among mirages and reflexes
From death, madness and love Goddess of the mortal spell

We make a toast in your honour
    Protector of this brotherhood
    Burn! purifying fire.
    You, the eternal Goddess witch

In the rituals of moon and blood
    Powerful soothsaying chants
    Wheel of white masks
    Curses will be returned

    Guardian of other times
    Odinist women in Midgard
Reborn, to your call they will respond
And your name will never be forgotten

    The Hawk wings will guide
The flames of the fire will untie
May the great nation of the Visigoth Eagle
Be ready for battle under your fire, just waken now.

  • Top 3 Mysteries from Norse Sagas

1 - The fate of Ormrinn Langi

While converting the Jarldoms in Norway to Christianity, king Olaf Trygvasson took as plunder a massive longship later named Ormrinn Skammi (The Short Serpent). This man was impressed by its design and size, and as he gained more wealth trough raiding as viking he commissioned the greatest longship in history, Ormrinn Langi (The Long Serpent). It is described in the same saga as follows: 34 pairs of rows each side for 68 rowers, a broad and high deck for crossing seas and carrying armies (estimated to be around 45 meters long).
This beast warship was sailed on the Øyrasund strait along with the rest of the royal fleet when Trygvasson was ambushed by his many enemies, the fleets of danes and swedes combined to cover the entire horizon with ships.
The norwegian king had no choice but to face against outnumberingly bad odds the coming armies, where soon blood was told to cover every deck of norwegian ships and danish with swedish armies on them. Ormrinn Langi stood last with Olaf's retinue defending its massive deck until Trygvasson jumped overboard afraid of blades. The swedes were told to have captured Ormrinn langi, but nothing else is known about the fate of the largest longship.

    2 - Supernatural encounters in Grettir's saga

There is no figure more fabled and controversial in icelandic sagas than Grettir Asmundsson, a violent outlaw with many strange flaws and characteristics.
After murdering, Grettir is condemned in Iceland to full outlawry and flees to Norway where he is hunted down day and night by the family of the offended, and taking down tens after tens of warriors. This is the easiest part for him, however as the supernormal seems to be against him as well, where he is said to face Draugr (undead) and cave trolls, being a characteristic exclusive to some outlaw sagas.
What is strangest however is Glam the Undead who curses Grettir after he is defeated to be afraid of the dark. From there on, the Saga becomes more and more surreal, it is told that eyes haunted the outlaw from the dark and could not get sleep unless somebody kept watch for him. Another such curse is laid unto him when he makes his last stand on the Icelandic island of Drangey, where he is paralysed by a witch. This Saga is the strangest by far for all the out of the ordinary happenings.

3 - Vinland, do we really know anything about it?

We all like to be that one who says "but the Vikings discovered the americas!", and you'd be right for the archaeological evidence, but the literary one from the sagas is absolutely
strange. For instance, in Erik the Red's saga there is told of some, I will call them "ghost crops", where there is told of self sown wheat (even today, the only evidence for native wheat is in the Middle East) and grapes which are not found natively in North America. Most probably they were either confused or lies to attract investors and settlers.
Even more strange are the encounters with the amerindian nomad settlers named Skrælings which are not identified to a tribe even today. They were initially trading with the norse, but later became hostile. They were many but the icelandic settlers had superior techology and kept their lands for a while. In one battle, a farm was attacked by a warband of Skrælingjar where only a pregnant woman survived. It is told that she managed to scare and rout the attackers alone.
For unknown reasons, Vinland was abandoned, and later in the middle ages it was only a memory and thought by some to be Africa. Nowadays we only know Vinland is in modern day Canada because of the finds.

  • Rán, keeper of the lost, my favorite, my inspiration as i dip my toes in the journey to soberiety.
Rán holds the grief and shadows others cannot. She understands the pull of the deep, the ache of loss, and the pain we sometimes try to drown. But she is also the one who helps you rise. Rán does not judge, she cradles the weary and helps them resurface. With her net, she gathers not only the drowned but the lost parts of ourselves we thought were gone forever.

  • Today, I'll be mostly doing the cleanup, polishing, and mounting on this selection of #lunula pendants in readiness for the craft fair I will be attending at Winterslow Vllage Hall near salisbury, Wiltshire, tomorrow (10th May 2025).

There will be a good selection of local craftsmen joining me, so if you're in the area, why not pop in and take a look?

  • Most of you know this, but just to clear up a common myth

Vikings didn’t use the Elder Futhark.

The runes most people recognize the 24-character Elder Futhark actually disappeared before the Viking Age even began.

By the time the Vikings were carving runestones and marking their belongings, they had switched to a simplified 16-rune alphabet called the Younger Futhark.

I personally like the Elder Futhark more

  • Mighty Red Dragon
My most recent work that took "some" time and effort to make and program it the way I envisioned it. Ended up falling in love with final result :)

Perfect addition to any altar or personal space. It's program is directly inspired by Red Dragons, who are mighty beings embodying strength, might, wealth and ability to grow the trophies.
The point is not to make someone reflect them but to balance the energies governing the soul, bringing up the brave and courageous part of the soul to present and embrace the draconic heritage.
Or if you're already a powerhouse it will definitely help you grow even more to gigachad or gigachadette levels of being :)
