Just thought I'd share the tattoo I got on Monday (my first tattoo!). It's a stylized depiction of Megaloceros giganteus, also known as the Irish elk. The largest known deer species to have ever lived, Megaloceros giganteus is believed to have gone extinct around 7,600 years ago. Their remains are frequently discovered well-preserved in the peat bogs of Ireland. I like to think that my ancestors would have venerated these majestic beasts.
